Crosbyton CISD is Back in Session CCISD employees had a busy schedule prior to the start of school, and many opportunities were made possible, in part through the community of Crosbyton! All employees of Crosbyton CISD were welcomed back on August 1st with a convocation in the High School auditorium. Aneda Arriaga, former Secret Service Agent and CHS graduate, was the speaker. Ms. Arriaga spoke about her experiences as an agent and how the relationships she formed while at school in Crosbyton prepared her for all the challenges and adventures she had while serving as a secret service agent. It was an honor to listen to a former valedictorian for CHS who achieved such an honorable position in life, and her words reminded those in attendance of the major influence teachers have on each student that comes into the school. Crosbyton CISD was fortunate to have several local churches and organizations provide lunch during the back-to-school in-service days. Many thanks are extended to the following: Crosbyton Lions Club, Church of Christ, San Jose Catholic Church, Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, First Baptist Church, and the Methodist Church. A big thanks goes to Trinity Worship Center for giving each Crosbyton CISD employee an Amazon gift card. Superintendent Mr. David Rodriguez said, “It takes a village to raise a child, and these organization are a great example of partnering with our school to encourage teachers, and to equip each student with the tools to flourish in life.” On Friday, August 4, all Crosbyton CISD employees went to Main Event in Lubbock and were able to have a day of team building. Everyone had an enjoyable time bowling, playing Putt Putt, laser tag and video games. It was a day full of new adventures and forming new relationships. CCISD would further like to thank the Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, especially Martha Kirk, for organizing Crosbyton’s 2023 Meet the Chiefs and Teachers on Tuesday, August 8th at the School Circle. All the band, cheerleaders, girls and boys Cross Country, and Football teams were introduced, and the Chieftain Sound played its upcoming halftime show. The Chamber also had a photo booth set-up for students to take back to school pictures, and Crosby County Farm Bureau provided the balloon arch. All attendees were served a free hamburger/hot dog meal, sponsored by United Supermarkets, and prepared and served by the Chamber Board. Following the introductions, students were able to play games to earn free school supplies, provided by donations from citizens and organized by Matt James. The last day of in-service included lunch with the Crosbyton Lions Club for a city-wide donation lunch, benefiting the Crosbyton Volunteer Fire Department. The Lions Club hosted the teachers and purchased the meat, and Lowes Market furnished the rest of the meal. The Crosbyton Volunteer firefighters and teachers were honored as part of Pete Christy’s Lunch Church on the Road Program. Attendees were able to enjoy lunch and get motivated by hearing Pete Christy share his ministry and talk about all the relationships those who work with students can foster and the difference educators make in the lives of students. Attendees were also able to receive words of encouragement from Crosbyton’s long-time teacher and coach, who is now retired, Coach Todd Bass. Coach Bass thanked all the teachers and volunteers for giving their time to serve this community and the students of Crosbyton CISD. He also talked about the importance of building meaningful relationships with students which serves to prepare them for life. This year’s theme for Elementary is “Adventure Awaits” and for Secondary it is “Building Relationships”. All the in-service activities and presentations centered around building personal relationships to be equipped to face each challenge that awaits. This year is off to a strong beginning, and remarkable things are anticipated and expected at Crosbyton CISD.
