Crosbyton CISD Virtual Learning Guidelines The virtual learning model is different from the remote learning in the spring. The virtual model will be much more rigorous, and daily attendance will be required. Crosbyton CISD will use Google Classroom as our virtual learning platform. Students will be required to have a reliable internet connection, and a device capable of running the Google Classroom application. Key aspects of the virtual learning model include: • Students will be expected to follow the full instructional day plan according to the provided schedule. Elementary students will complete at least 180 minutes per day of instruction, and Secondary students will complete at least 240 minutes per day. • Content learning and activities will be planned by the classroom teacher to make sure each student receives their full instructional minutes. • Virtual Learning model may have a separate instructional design, but will use the same scope and sequence as Face-to-Face learning. • The virtual learning assignments may look different, but they will cover the same content and skills as on-campus instruction. • Learning opportunities will be personalized to meet individual needs of students that receive specialized services. Students that choose to participate in virtual learning will be required to remain in virtual learning until the end of the grading period, and they waive participation and attendance in extracurricular activities. Certain secondary elective courses will require attendance in face to face instruction. If a student chooses virtual learning, and is enrolled in one of these courses, the student will have to change their schedule. Virtual learning will not be available for Pre-Kindergarten students. If you have any questions concerning Virtual Learning, please contact your campus principal.

The UIL is presenting modifications to the 2020-2021 UIL calendar and updated COVID-19 risk mitigation guidelines, set to take effect August 1, 2020. The modifications to the 2020-2021 calendar differ by activity and conference and can be found on the UIL website and in the chart below. These adjustments reflect the public health situation at this time and the varying numbers of COVID-19 cases across different geographic areas of the state. This plan provides a delay for schools in highly-populated metro areas, primarily conferences 5A-6A, given the challenges with COVID-19 those communities are facing, while providing schools in other areas, primarily 1A-4A, an opportunity to start seasons on schedule. Acknowledging the situation is not always clear-cut and that COVID-19 affects every community differently, the plan also allows for local flexibility and encourages districts to plan for possible interruptions in order to complete district seasons. Additionally, the COVID-19 risk mitigation guidelines for the 2020-2021 school year can be found at the link below. This includes guidance around face coverings, general operations and protocol for individuals confirmed or exposed to COVID-19, congregate settings (band halls, locker rooms, etc.), practice and rehearsal activities, spectators and media, and concession stands and food service. These guidelines are in addition to guidance issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and intended to be implemented along with TEA guidance, which applies to UIL academic activities and extracurricular non-UIL activities. Crosbyton CISD will continue to work with state officials and monitor CDC and other federal guidance to determine any potential modifications that may become necessary. https://www.uiltexas.org/policy/covid-19/2020-2021-uil-covid-19-risk-mitigation-guidelines

When school resumes on August 17th, Crosbyton CISD will be offering a variety of instructional options for our students and families. Students will have the option to attend classes in our buildings, or remotely from their homes. Remote instruction will be online only, no paper packets will be sent home. Below is a brief summary of options that will be offered. We are working on the details of each option and will have a final plan in place prior to the start of school. Starting August 10th, we will be contacting families to ask each student to commit to in-class or remote instruction. If a student chooses remote instruction he/she will be required to stay in that placement until the end of the first six-week grading period. Students may enter remote instruction at any time; however, they can only return to in-class instruction at the end of a grading period. Crosbyton CISD is also developing new Safety and Cleaning Guidelines for the students that will be attending classes in our buildings. These guidelines are being developed to prevent the virus from entering the school, respond to lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the school, and mitigate the likelihood of COVID-19 spreading inside the school. Once finalized, these guidelines will be released the first week in August. Instructional Options On Campus Instruction • In school classrooms • Follow all enhanced safety guidelines and procedures • Daily health checks • Eligible for all extracurricular activities • 90% Attendance rule is in effect Remote Instruction – Two Options Synchronous Instruction • Realtime remote instruct in each class period via Zoom • Assignments posted to Google Classroom Asynchronous Instruction • Instruction delivered through video, phone, or Zoom • Assignments posted to Google Classroom Both remote plans will require: • 100% on-line learning at home • Reliable internet • Daily attendance and assignments. Day will mirror the on-campus school day • No extracurricular activities or school events • 90% attendance rule in effect
